Forbes magazine has selected the 25 most outstanding women CEOs in Spain for 2025, a list that includes leaders such as Ana María Morales (Beiersdorf), Rosa Tous (Tous Group), Antonella Sotero (Ferrero Group) and Judith Viader (Frit Ravich).
According to the Women in Business report published annually by Grant Thornton, Spain has experienced a setback in recent years in the race for women to break the glass ceiling and access senior leadership positions. In the previous edition, women held 26.7% of CEO positions in medium-sized companies (neither large corporations nor SMEs). In the past twelve months, however, that figure has dropped to 19.3%.
Among the leaders who have broken through the glass ceiling barrier is Carme Miró, CEO and founder of APPLE TREE. Carme has spent most of her professional career as a strategic management, marketing and communication consultant. Since 2007, she has led APPLE TREE, advising leading national and international brands and institutions such as Lego, Mahou, Nike, the European Union, Henkel Beauty, Manchester City FC, Radisson Hotel Group, Visa or Cupra.
Throughout her career as a consultant, Carme has developed some high impact global communication strategies, including the sponsorship agreement between Unicef and FC Barcelona, Nike’s influencer strategy and the rebranding in China for Radisson Hotel Group (as a single group brand).
Her first business project was Cluster Consulting, which she co-founded in 1993. Within a few years it became the world’s leading strategic consultancy specializing in the telecommunications industry and the new technologies sector. By 2000, with 600 employees across 12 offices in 8 countries, the company, completed a successful sale process and was listed on the Nasdaq.
Carme holds a Master’s degree in Economics from the University of Barcelona, where she was the first female president of AIESEC in Spain, and an MBA from MIT in Boston. In addition, she is one of only 4 Spaniards who sit on the MIT Sloan Advisory Board.
