Carme Miró, CEO and Founder of APPLE TREE, has been recognised by Forbes as one of the 50 Most Influential Women in Catalonia 2026. The annual ranking celebrates women whose leadership is helping shape Catalonia’s business, social, cultural and institutional landscape.
With more than 25 years’ experience, Carme is an international strategic consultant specialising in management, marketing and communications for leading global organisations.
She holds a degree in Economics from the University of Barcelona, where she became the first woman to serve as President of AIESEC Spain in 1990. She later completed an MBA at the MIT Sloan School of Management in Boston.
For seven years, Carme served on the MIT Sloan School International Board, one of only four Spanish members of the international advisory body. She is currently Vice President and Treasurer of DIRCOM, the Spanish Association of Communications Professionals.
Born in Barcelona to a Spanish-Canadian family, Carme has worked in more than 20 countries and lived in ten cities, including Barcelona, Boston, Johannesburg, Lausanne, London, Madrid, Milan, Paris and San Francisco.
A first-generation entrepreneur, Carme has founded two successful companies: Cluster Consulting, now part of Oliver Wyman in Europe, and APPLE TREE, which has grown into one of Spain’s leading communications groups.
In 2007, Carme co-founded APPLE TREE with British journalist Kirsty Brown and American Creative Director Olivia Walsh. Built on the philosophy of NEW THINKING—a distinctive approach that combines strategy, creativity, innovation, technology and a deep understanding of business—APPLE TREE helps brands increase cultural relevance and improve business results through purposeful communication. According to Provoke Media’s global ranking of the world’s 250 largest communications consultancies, APPLE TREE was Europe’s fastest-growing communications agency in both 2023 and 2024.
In just 19 years, APPLE TREE has become:
- Communications Consultancy of the Year 2025–2026, according to PR Scope.
- Spain’s Most Admired Communications Agency, according to PR Scope 2025.
- European Communications Agency of the Year 2026 at the SABRE Awards EMEA.
- Recognised as one of the Best Agencies to Work For for ten consecutive years.
- Ranked among Spain’s Top 8 Digital Creative Agencies in AGENCY Scope 2024–25.
- Winner of more than 80 international awards over the past three years, including Cannes Lions, Eficacia Awards, SABRE Awards Europe, PRWeek Global Awards, WINA Awards and Luum Awards.
In 2013, APPLE TREE acquired KEEPERS, an agency specialising in influencer marketing and now ranked as Spain’s leading influencer marketing agency according to IMScope 2025.
Purpose and values have always been central to Carme’s vision for business. Reflecting this commitment, APPLE TREE became a Certified B Corp in 2022 and also holds an EcoVadis sustainability rating.
One of Carme’s strongest commitments is the development of women’s sport. Since 2020, APPLE TREE has run a dedicated programme supporting women’s football and sponsors three of Spain’s leading fully women’s football clubs: Badalona Seagulls, WSS Barcelona and CFF Olympia Madrid.
Carme’s first entrepreneurial venture was Cluster Consulting, which she co-founded in 1993. Within a few years, the company had become the world’s leading strategy consultancy specialising in mobile telecommunications and new technologies. In 2000, with 600 employees across 12 offices in eight countries, the company completed a successful sale and listed on NASDAQ. The transaction remains the fifth-largest Spanish M&A deal ever completed on NASDAQ.
