European Union Campaign in Nicaragua for Women’s Day

On the 8^th March we launched a campaign to promote the Delegation of the European Union in Nicaragua’s commitment to gender equality, in commemoration of International Women’s Day.

The campaign began with a call for illustrators from the country to submit an original design that reflected the empowerment of Nicaraguan women. The young, winning artist, selected from four finalists, was Gabriel Benavente, who then created the large-format mural “For the Rights of Women.”

In addition, a music video was created using the song “My women’s rights”, written by Auxiliadora Cárdenas and singer-songwriter Luis Enrique Mejía Godoy and performed by Norma Helena Gadea.
